Saman Villas opened its doors in 1995 and has the distinction of being Sri Lanka’s first ever deluxe boutique hotel. The exclusive concept and style of the hotel stems from the adoption of typical Sri Lankan temple architecture to offer our guests a typical Sri Lanka boutique hotel experience.
Saman Villas derives both its name and logo from the “Saman Picca” (Jasmine flower) that is treasured as the most fragrant of oriental flowers. Jasmine is said to evoke good luck and is a form used with great charm in ancient temple decorations, especially as a background to paintings or as bas-relief images of the gods.
The general theme adopted by Saman Villas of temple paintings and murals sets the tone across the hotel from the main restaurant to the individual suites to compliment its Sri Lankan ambiance.
